A healthy-aging product, from paper sketches to a platform that's still running

A healthy-aging company needed its research turned into a product. Elizabeth led the rebrand and product UX; Jesus built the platform and still maintains it, seven years on.

The situation

A healthy-aging platform for retirement communities, built on research into successful aging. It sells to communities and to individuals, so one product has to work for the business that buys it and the people who use it. In 2018 the research still had to become a product: a brand, an experience members could follow, and a platform to deliver it.

What we did

  • Elizabeth led the rebrand and the UX strategy for both sides of the platform, and ran sprint planning and the roadmap. That work carried it into negotiations with AARP and SunHealth.
  • Jesus designed the application on paper, then in Adobe XD, then hand-coded it in WordPress: accounts, a content back end, an interactive front end.
  • Members answer a quiz; a recommendation engine picks audio, video and text for each of them. A dashboard shows how they engage.
  • Migration tooling moved the data in; database work cut page loads sharply.

What stayed

Now 7 years on, Jesus still maintains the platform and works directly with the CEO. The next phase is a modernisation in stages, with Playwright regression tests against staging, so what members use today keeps working while the platform changes underneath.
